The name of Herbert Horatio Kitchener, first Earl Kitchener of Khartoum and of Broome (1850–1916), British soldier, used absol., attrib., or in the possessive to denote a man of his imposing and taciturn personality, soldiers recruited while he was Secretary of State for War (1914–16), or aspects of appearance or of dress characteristic of him or of these troops.
