[f. the Kutchin name tron-duik hammer river, a tributary of the Yukon River.]
1. The name of a region (and river) in the Yukon, NW. Canada, the scene of a gold-rush in the years following 1896. Hence many attrib. uses, as Klondyke fever, Klondike (gold) rush, etc., applied to this period and to the life lived during it.
b. ellipt. as n., a mine or quarry of valuable material.
