A pale yellow hydrated sulphate of potassium and iron, KFe(SO4)2· H2O.
1931W. F. Foshag in Amer. Mineralogist XVI. 352 In the Calico Hills, San Bernardino County, California, a small deposit of sulfates of iron [was found]. This deposit was found to contain a fair abundance of a new sulfate of iron and potash... For this new mineral species the writer proposes the name krausite. Ibid., Krausite occurs in several different forms. That found in the alunite forms comparatively large but rough crystals...
