[Native name.] One of a pastoral and agricultural people of Aryan stock, found in northern Iran and Iraq and eastern Turkey, with the adjacent regions of the U.S.S.R. (the area being collectively known as Kurdistan). Also attrib. or as adj. So ˈKurdish a., of or pertaining to the Kurds or their language, a dialect belonging to the Iranian group; as n., the language itself; Kurdiˈstan a. and n., (of) a Kurdish rug.
