A reddish-white rhombohedral carbonate of calcium, manganese, magnesium, and sometimes iron, belonging to the dolomite group of minerals.
1907Mineral. Mag. XIV. 402 Kutnohorite... A rhombohedral carbonate with the atomic ratios Ca:Mn:Fe:Mg = 7:5:1:2 occurring as reddish-white cleavage-masses. 1955Amer. Mineralogist XL. 751 Kutnahorite occurs at Franklin as anhedral masses with curved cleavage surfaces up to three centimeters in size in a small veinlet cutting the normal franklinite ore. It is translucent, with a pale pink color. 1962W. A. Deer et al. Rock-Forming Min. V. 267 Kutnohorites from Franklin containing approximately 10 per cent. excess CaCO3 show some degree of order in their structure. 1967Amer.
