promazine Pharm.|ˈprəʊməziːn| [f. propyl + methyl + -azine (f. azo- + ine5).] The compound 10-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)phenothiazine, C17H20N2S, which is used (in the form of its white crystalline hydrochloride) as a tranquillizer.

It has been used for its tranquillising effect in psychotic conditions, especially those associated with hyperactivity, in acute alcoholism and delirium tremens, and in the withdrawal symptoms of drug addiction. 1965J.
