‖ landamman(n|ˈlandaman| [Swiss Ger.; f. land land n.1 + amman(n = G. amtmann, f. amt office, magistracy + mann man.] In Switzerland, the title applied to the chief magistrate in certain cantons, and formerly also to the chief officer in certain smaller administrative districts.
