laparoscopy Med.|læpəˈrɒskəpɪ| [f. laparo- + -scopy.] Examination of the loins or abdomen; now spec. [ad. G. laparoskopie (H. C. Jacobaeus 1910, in Münchener Med. Wochenschr. 4 Oct. 2091/1)], visual examination of the interior of the peritoneal cavity by means of a laparoscope inserted into it through the abdominal wall or the vagina.
