lasiocampid, n. and a.|leɪsɪəʊˈkæmpɪd| [f. mod.L. family name Lasiocampidæ, f. the generic name Lasiocampa (N. Contarini Catal. Uccelli e Insetti Padova (1843) 37), f. Gk. λάσιος hairy, shaggy + κάµπη caterpillar.] A member of the family Lasiocampidæ, a group of large moths also known as eggars or lappet-moths, including some species whose larvae are called tent-caterpillars; of or pertaining to an insect of this kind.
