lauryl Chem.|ˈlɒr-, ˈlɔːrɪl| [f. lauric a. + -yl.] = dodecyl; lauryl alcohol, CH3(CH2)10CH2OH, a crystalline, low-melting alcohol which is obtained by reduction of coconut oil and whose sulphate esters are used in detergents.
