Leonese, a. and n.|liːəˈniːz| [f. Sp. León, the name of a town and region in Spain + -ese.] A. adj. Of or belonging to León, an ancient kingdom of Spain and now a province, or to the town of León in this region. B. n. a. A native or inhabitant of León; also collect. b. The language of León, a dialect of Spanish with Portuguese affinities.
