leonite Min.|ˈleɪ-, ˈliːənaɪt| [ad. G. leonit (C. A. Tenne 1896, in Zeitschr. d. deut. geol. Ges. XLVIII. 637), f. the name of Leo Strippelmann, 19th-c. German salt-works director: see -ite1.] A hydrated sulphate of potassium and magnesium, K2Mg(SO4)2.4H2O, found as transparent, colourless, or yellowish prismatic crystals.
