Leyland|ˈleɪlənd| The name of Christopher John Leyland (1849–1926), of Haggerston Castle, used attrib. or in the possessive in Leyland('s) cypress to designate a hybrid conifer, × Cupressocyparis leylandii (Chamæcyparis nootkatensis × Cupressus macrocarpa), first raised by him from seedlings collected at Leighton Hall, Welshpool, in 1888.
