The former Turkish form of the name of the town of Yenisea in N. E. Greece, used attrib. and absol. to designate a variety of strong-flavoured tobacco grown in the region.
1954R. Jahn Tobacco Dict. 198 Yenitz, the District in Turkey, in the Province of Thrace, where tobacco was first grown, in the middle of the eighteenth century. Tobacco from this region is called Yenitz.
