pronation Physiol.|prəʊˈneɪʃən| [= F. pronation, ad. med.L. prōnātiōn-em, n. of action f. prōnāre: see prec.] The action of pronating; the putting of the hand or fore limb into the prone position, i.e. with the palmar surface downwards (if the limb be stretched forward horizontally) or backwards (if it be hanging vertically); the position or condition of being pronated. (Sometimes applied to a similar movement of the tibia in the hind limb.) Opp. to supination.
