Lotto, n.2|ˈlɒtəʊ| [The name of the Venetian painter Lorenzo Lotto (c 1480–1556).] Used attrib. and occas. absol. to designate Turkish (Ushak) rugs and carpets resembling those depicted in paintings by Lotto (see quot. 1983).
