[ad. Gr. ἄνοδος way up, f. ἀνά up + ὁδός way.]
a. strictly, as applied by Faraday: The path by which an electric current leaves the positive pole, and enters the electrolyte, on its way to the negative pole.
b. loosely used for: The positive pole. In both senses opposed to cathode, which is applied to the path of exit from the electrolyte, and to the negative pole.
