Maioli|mɑːˈjɒlɪ| The name of Thomas Mahieu (fl. 1549–72), latinized as Maiolus, French book-collector and secretary to Catherine de Médicis, used attrib. to designate a French style of book-binding with elaborate gold tooling, used for some of the books in his library. Also absol.
