McMahon, n.|məkˈmɑːn| [The name of Sir (Arthur) Henry McMahon (1862-1949), British foreign secretary to the government of India and commissioner at the Simla Conference.] McMahon line, a line proposed by the British under Sir Henry McMahon at the Simla Conference (1913–14) as the frontier between Tibet and the North East Frontier Agency. The demarcation was accepted by Tibet, but not recognized by China.
