menhir Archæol.|ˈmɛnhɪə(r)| Also erron. menzhir. [a. Breton men hir ‘long stone’ (men, mean stone, hir long: = Welsh maen hir, Cornish medn hir).] A tall upright monumental stone, of varying antiquity, found in various parts of Europe, and also in Africa and Asia.
