Mennonite Eccl.|ˈmɛnənaɪt| Also 6 erron. Memnonite, 8 Menonite. [f. Menno + -ite.] A member of a sect of Christians which was founded in Friesland by Menno Simons (1492–1559). They are opposed to infant baptism, the taking of oaths, military service, and the holding of civic offices.
