† ˈmesotype Min. Obs. [a. F. mésotype (Haüy 1801), f. Gr. µέσο-ς middle + τύπος type.] A name including the minerals now called natrolite, scolecite, mesolite, and thomsonite. (The form of the crystal is intermediate between those of analcite and stilbite; hence the name.)
