† metaˈgrammatism Obs. [ad. Gr. µεταγραµµατισµός (Galen), f. µετα- meta- + γραµµατ-, γράµµα letter: see -ism.] The transposition of letters in a word or phrase; anagrammatism. So metaˈgrammatize v. [Gr. µεταγραµµατίζειν (Tzetzes)], ‘to alter the letters’ (L. & Sc.).
