Price noted that..mettwurst,..‘sausage’,..had ‘penetrated to the English colonists’. 1971Sunday Times (Colour Suppl.) 27 June 50/1 Mettwurst can be found in the form of a small sausage (‘ends’) or a horseshoe-shaped ‘Westphalian’ ring. Very heavily smoked; lightly spiced, no garlic. Mettwurst is eaten cold, sliced, but is also very good poached, sliced fairly thickly and served with boiled potatoes and cabbage. |
