meyerhofferite Min.|maɪəˈhɒfəraɪt| [f. the name of Wilhelm Meyerhoff (1864–1906), German chemist + -ite1.] A colourless to white hydrated calcium borate that is found chiefly as an alteration product of inyoite.

(ed. 7) II. 357 The meyerhofferite occurs as pseudomorphs after inyoite with a fibrous internal structure, as small transparent colorless crystals on the surface of these pseudomorphs, and as masses of interlaced glassy crystals or fibrous aggregates embedded in clay. 1967[see inderborite]. |
