mimosine Chem.|mɪˈməʊsiːn| Also † mimosin. [ad. G. mimosin (J. Renz, at the suggestion of K. Suessenguth, 1936 in Zeitschr. f. physiol. Chem. CCXLIV. 154), f. mimosa + -ine5.] An amino-acid, C5H4O2N·CH2CH (NH2)COOH, found in the tree Leucæna glauca and in Mimosa pudica, the sensitive plant.
