proˈpelling, vbl. n. and ppl. a. [f. propel v. + -ing1, -ing2.] a. vbl. n. The action of propel v.; propulsion; also attrib. b. ppl. a. That propels. Also in Comb., as propelling pencil, a mechanical pencil containing a screw by which the lead may be projected and retracted.
