▪ I. ‖ monde|mɔ̃d| [Fr.: lit. ‘world’. Cf. beau monde.] The ‘world’ of fashionable or aristocratic persons; ‘society’. Also, a person's particular ‘world’ or circle; the ‘set’ in which one moves.
