1. Epithet of an electric arc-lamp regulator (see quot.). Also monophotal a. (Funk's Stand. Dict. 1895).
1884Knight Dict. Mech. Suppl., Monophote Regulator, a voltaic-arc regulator adapted to but a single light on a circuit: as distinguished from polyphote regulator.
