▪ I. † Moˈrellian, a.1 Obs. [f. Morelli-us (see below) + -an.] Pertaining to the opinions of Morellius (J. B. Morély of Geneva, fl. 1560) who advocated an extreme democratic theory of church government. Hence † Moˈrellianism.

Morellian, a.2|mɒˈrɛlɪən| [f. the name of Giovanni Morelli (1816–91), Italian patriot and art critic, + -an.] Of, pertaining to, or characteristic of the critical method of Morelli, which introduced a new, systematic approach to art criticism, insisting esp. on the study of detail as a guide in the attribution of paintings. So Moˈrellian n., a follower of Morelli's critical method; Moˈrellianism, the technique of art criticism employed by Morelli.
