mormoopid, a. (n.) Zool.|ˌmɔːməʊˈɒpɪd| [f. mod.L. Mormoopidæ, f. Gr. µορµώ mormo n. + ὤψ face: see -id3.] Of or pertaining to the family Mormoopidae of small insectivorous bats of North and Central America, in which the nose-leaf is absent or rudimentary but the lips are elaborate and leaf-shaped. Also as n., a bat of this family.
