1. The astringent plum-like fruit of species of Terminalia (family Combretaceæ), e.g. T. Bellerica (see belleric), T. Chebula (see chebule, chebulic), T. citrina: formerly used medicinally, but now chiefly in dyeing, tanning, and ink-making. emblic myrobalan: see emblic.
