‖ Myxine|mɪkˈsaɪniː| [mod.L. Myxīnē (Linnæus), app. alteration of Gr. µυξῖνος slime-fish, f. µύξα slime.] A genus of cyclostomous fishes having very slimy eel-shaped bodies, which are frequently found in the bodies of other fishes (e.g. cod); a fish of this genus, a hag-fish or borer.
