‖ Naja|ˈneɪdʒə, ˈneɪjə| Also naia. [mod.L., f. Hindī nāg snake.] A genus of highly venomous snakes, comprising the species N. tripudians of India and N. haje of Africa; the Indian or African cobra; a snake belonging to either of these species.
