neocorate|niːˈɒkərət| [f. L. neōcor-us, ad. Gr. νεωκόρος the custodian of a temple: see -ate1, and cf. F. néocorat.] The office or dignity of having the custody or charge of a temple, as a distinction assumed by, or granted to, Asiatic cities under the Roman Empire.
