The name of Karl R. Nesselrode (1780–1862), Russian statesman, used attrib. in Nesselrode pie, Nesselrode pudding, etc., an iced dessert made with chestnuts, cream, preserved fruits, etc., and freq. flavoured with rum. Also ellipt. Nesselrode.
