nimite Min.|ˈnɪmaɪt| [f. National Institute for Metallurgy + -ite1.] A basic silicate, aluminate, and oxide of nickel, magnesium, iron, and aluminium (with nickel as the dominant cation), (Ni,Mg,Fe,Al)3(Si,Al)2O5(OH)4, which belongs to the chlorite group and is found as yellowish-green monoclinic crystals near the Scotia talc mine in Transvaal.
