‖ nymphæa|nɪmˈfiːə| Also nymphea. [L., ad. Gr. νυµϕαῖα, fem. of νυµϕαῖος sacred to the nymphs. So F. nymphæa, nymphéa, Sp. and It. ninfea.] The common white or yellow water-lily; a genus of aquatic plants including these and other species.
