oil-ring
a. In Seal-engraving, a ring with a small dish on top to hold a mixture of oil and diamond-dust; it is worn on the forefinger of the workman, and the wheel is allowed to rotate in the dish to replenish the engraving-tool.
b. In Machinery, a ring surrounding and riding upon a journal, etc., which, whilst revolving, it continuously lubricates by raising oil from a reservoir in which it dips.
