oligodendrocyte Histology.|ɒlɪgəʊˈdɛndrəʊsaɪt| [f. oligodendroglia + -cyte.] A kind of neuroglial cell similar to an astrocyte (but with fewer processes), found characteristically round nerve cells in the central nervous system and concerned with the maintenance of myelin.
