opisometer|ɒpɪˈsɒmɪtə(r)| [f. Gr. ὀπίσω backwards + µέτρον measure.] An instrument for measuring curved lines, as on a map, consisting of a small wheel turning on a screw fixed in a rod or frame; the wheel is rolled along the line to be measured, and then rolled back on a straight scale until it reaches its former position on the screw.
