optoacoustic, a.|ˌɒptəʊəˈkuːstɪk| Also opto-acoustic. [f. opto- + acoustic a.] Involving or being the effect whereby a light beam periodically interrupted at an audio frequency produces an audible sound when made to irradiate an enclosed body of gas.
