⁋The alleged sense ‘A monopolist’ given in modern Dicts., and suggested in Blount's Law Dict. (1670), is founded upon the heading of ch. 85 of 3rd pt. of Coke's Institutes ‘Against Monopolists, Propounders, and Projectors’, where the text has ‘These Inventers and Propounders of evill things’ [inventores malorum], in which the word is used as in sense 1 above.
