propranolol Pharm.|prəʊˈprænəlɒl| [f. propyl + propanol with reduplication of final -ol.] The compound 1-isopropylamino-3-(1-naphthyloxy)-2-propanol, C16H21NO2, which is a β-adrenergic blocking agent used mainly (in the form of a colourless crystalline hydrochloride) in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia.
