osteichthyan, n. (and a.) Ichthyol.|ˌɒstɪˈɪkθɪən| Also -ichthyean. [f. mod.L. Osteichthy-es, f. Gr. ὀστέ-ον bone + ἰχθύ-ς fish, + -an.] Any fish belonging to the class Osteichthyes of bony fish, characterized by a bony endoskeleton. Also as adj., characteristic of the Osteichthyes.
