A disease of the ear in which the normal tissue of the temporal bone is replaced by spongy bone, with the result that movement of the stapes becomes impeded and deafness ensues. Hence otoscleˈrotic a., of, pertaining to, or affected by otosclerosis; also as n., one who suffers from otosclerosis.
