1. trans. To sleep beyond (a specified time, etc.).
1590Shakes. Mids. N. v. i. 372, I feare we shall out-sleepe the comming morne, As much as we this night haue ouer⁓watcht. 1814Cary Dante (Chandos) 310 [A] babe, that had outslept his wont.
2. To sleep longer than (another).
1690Shadwell Am. Bigot v, Thou wouldst outsleep the seven sleepers.
3. To sleep (a period of time, etc.) out or to an end; to sleep till or beyond the end of.
