‖ padouk|pæˈdaʊk| Also padauk, padowk, peduk. [Burmese native name.] A large deciduous or evergreen tree of the genus Pterocarpus, belonging to the family Leguminosæ, esp. P. soyauxii of West Africa, P. dalbergioides of the Andaman Islands, and P. macrocarpus of Burma and Thailand; also, the reddish hardwood produced by these trees. Also attrib.
