Pakkawood, n.|ˈpækəwʊd| Also pakkawood. [f. Pakka-, of unknown origin + wood n.1; cf. pakka var. of pukka a. (n.).] A proprietary name for a hard wooden laminate which is resistant to heat and is used to make handles for cutlery, cooking utensils, etc.
