It. paladino = Sp. paladin, palatino:—L. palātīn-us of or belonging to the palace, palatine; introduced after the equivalent OF. palaisin, -asin, -azin (see palasin) had become obsolete. Mod.F. has also, in another application, a third form of the same word, palatin: see palatine.]
